Regular Well-Child Check Ups are Important at Every Age!

March 15, 2010

The American Academy of Pediatrics emphasizes the importance of regular well-child check-ups to maintain your child's health.  Regular check-ups with your pediatrician promote continuity of care and comprehensive health supervision.

Studies have shown that many adolescents do not see their physician for the recommended regular check-ups.  These regular visits are important for health counseling, early detection, preventive care, and to maximize your child's health.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children be seen at the following ages:

From birth until the first birthday:
Newborn, 3-5 days, 1 Month, 2 Months, 4 Months, 6 Months, 9 Months, & 12 Months

After the first birthday, until kindergarten:
15 Months, 18 Months, 24 Months, 30 Months, 3 Years, 4, 5 years.

Children and adolescents from 5 to 21 years old need a well child check-up each year.
